How can storytelling drive deep and sustainable change?
- Do you want to effect change on cause you care for?
- Do you want your brand and purpose to stand apart?
- Do you want to change how people perceive you?
In this collaborative workshop you will learn about storytelling and explore a concrete example of how to drive change through storytelling.
Narratives shape our world and stories are the most powerful way to share impactful ideas that create change. But today we live in a world of continuous media noise, where everyone is now a storyteller, where it's often hard to be heard or make sense of the noise and where we risk being trapped in our own filter bubble.
This two-part workshop will equip you in a day with some tools to define, redefine and deploy powerful narratives.
In the morning (8.30 to 12.30), we identify a societal systemic issue and reflect on how to change the current narrative around it in order to affect change.
In the afternoon (1 to 5 pm), we explore how to create stories that can amplify the narrative(s) developed in the morning.
Both parts are complementary - and stand-alone. We recommend attending both but the session if designed to allow you to attend either the morning or the afternoon.
The workshop doesn't require any prior knowledge and is suitable for people working in the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors. The aim is to bring your narrative and story challenge to a collaborative group and leave equipped with the powerful tools to start creating systemic change.
Feedback
“Bringing in Peter Fletcher-Dobson from Atamai Digital was like a breath of fresh air for us all. His techniques for storytelling and establishing a team narrative helped bring us together to concentrate on changing what we believed our current story to be, to a future story that we were enthusiastic to be working towards.
“I found this workshop incredibly valuable, not only for giving us the skills to understand narrative and storytelling, but to go even deeper into how my team is feeling and how they think they’re perceived by the wider business.
“Peter’s skilful facilitation gave us a sense of safety to share some difficult truths, and an excitement at what the future holds.
“I feel like I walked away with such valuable insights into the journey I need to take the team on, and I have a greater understanding now of what motivates them. We’re now a much stronger team that’s excited for the future and ready to put what we learned into practice.”
“I got a lot of insights out of the day. I’m going to really work on understanding the narrative that contain the stories. See where the stories nest to have the most impact.”
“I really enjoyed this workshop and learnt so much! My most important takeaway was understanding the difference between story and narrative. I thought they were the same thing. I will be using stories in my graphic design work. My takeaway was understanding how as an initiator I can shift a message.”
“I’m going to tell my story in 2019. This is helping me to design my own narrative. When I have more definition about that. I will be using as this model to put forward for all community centres.”
“Awesome day! loved being part of it - thanks for the opportunity! I learned really a lot about narrative. It was very powerful to get clear about that. Really useful.”
“A very rich day. I feel more confident to use storytelling in my life. Link between narrative and stories is very relevant to my products. Want to put more stories into my life.”
